* Faux Leather Jacket - Forever 21 * Shirt - Forever 21 * Pencil Skirt - Macy's
* Ankle Booties - Boutique 9 *

Long time no post! Last week's weather was terrible thanks to Sandy.  Florida didn't get a direct hit but I wasn't too keen on venturing out in inclement weather just to take outfit pictures.  I am happy to report its back to sunshine and blues skies in Miami with a little chill in the air! I seriously get excited for any cool day we have.  Yesterday I pulled out my new faux leather peplum jacket I picked up from Forever 21 in Sept.  I went back and forth with myself about purchasing it but finally decided to get it because the fit was amazing thanks to the underarms being stretch knit.  I usually have a hard time fitting into anything long sleeved from Forever 21 so this was a huge score for me.

Of course no outfit would be complete without my signature stripes and pop of color.  I picked up this beautiful skirt from Macy's a few weeks ago when they were having a sale.  I am telling you guys now I am going to order every color.  Anyone looking for a great basic skirt this one is a winner! It runs true to size and is lined.  I normally hate anything lined because the lining always seems to be a size smaller than the actual garment.  Not the case here I didn't have any problems with bunching at all.  I probably could have thrown on a pair of patterned stocking because I was cold but that might have been over kill.

I can't wait to post the rest of my fall outfits for you guys!

Outfitted For The Office

Tuesday, October 23, 2012

* Blazer - H&M * Tank - Love Culture * Skirt - The Limited * Pumps - Jessica Simpson *
* Neck Cuff - H&M * Purse - H&M *

I have such an affinity for ANYTHING black and white.  I seriously have to stop myself or that would be the only thing I would wear all the time.  Black and white is classic and you really can’t ever go wrong wearing those two colors.  So here I am again in black and white stripes which of course are another favorite for me.

I really don't wear very colorful clothing nor do I own a bunch of colorful shoes so I like to wear pieces that make a statement without really making a statement.  Does that make sense? This bold pink blazer compliments my striped skirt perfectly without being over the top.  I feel polished and trendy at that same time while still being office appropriate.  I added my gold neck cuff for a little bling and decided to wear stud earrings so they wouldn't take away from my necklace.  This is my perfect office wear formula.

Local Love: Silky Wraps Pink Glam Party (Recap)

Monday, October 22, 2012

This weekend I had the pleasure of attending the Silky Wraps Pink Glam Party and Fashion Show.  You guys may remember that Rox-Ann the founder of Silky Wraps was a sponsor for the Fashionably Empowered Women Spring Social earlier this year.

I had a wonderful time, and really enjoyed networking and mingling with such a fabulous group of ladies.  So before I give you the details of the event let give you some background on Silky Wraps and Rox-Ann's vision for her company.  The entire concept and start-up of Silky Wraps is so simple it's genius.  Rox-Ann like many of us naturals was concerned with moisture retention and wrapping her hair at night before bed.  It is recommend to wrap your hair with a silk scarf, silk bonnet or sleep on a satin pillow case.  We all know that the beauty supply store sells those black sleeping caps or sleeping bonnets that are hideous! They state that they are one hundred percent satin but they actually aren't.  Displeased with what was being offered locally Rox-Ann's solution was to design and make 100% silk satin hair wraps and sleeping bonnets, which she describes as simple sophistication.

In addition to offering high quality hair wraps, sleeping bonnets and shower caps Rox-Ann also has beautiful and sophisticated lounge wear items in pre-production.  Let me just say I am not a pajama lounge wear type of person but after seeing Roxy's pieces I wanted everything! Most of her pieces looked as if they could be worn out as regular clothing.  Little did I know that the second segment of her fashion show was just that.  Roxy-Ann turned her fabulous sleepwear items into very stylish outfits, a romper became a top, a sheer cover up was used as a shawl, and a high-low sleep shirt was worn over leggings!

 (Me, Roxy, and Angela host for the evening and fashion show producer)

 It is so important to support small businesses, so many people put their hearts and souls into their vision and purpose.  It was very evident watching Rox-Ann's fashion show that she loves what she does.  I am so happy to support her in anything that she does, long story short we had history that we didn't even know about until recently.  I served in the Navy with her sister who is still a very good friend of mine, seen here and here.  Small world right!

Once again I really enjoyed the fashion show and had a great time making lots of awesome connections and I even picked up a very cute and chic hair wrap, giveaway coming later this week!

Please to be sure to check out Silky Wraps, Rox-Ann has something for everyone including children.

*Bonus Content*

Me rocking my hair wrap, I usually wear a satin head scarf to bed which never stays on.  I didn't have that problem this weekend, my hair wrap stayed in place thanks to it's great design, two Velcro strips that kept it in place all night.  Ignore that empty wine bottle next to me I was prepping for my Sunday night tv line up, lol.

Highs and Lows

* Dress - Forever 21 * Necklace - Forever 21 * Sandals - Ralph Lauren *
* Purse - LV Speedy 35 *

I am in love, I know you guys get tired of me saying that but once again I am. I have found the perfect a-lined dress and it cost less than $20! This coral cutie is going to be perfect for Miami's fall/winter season and transition perfectly into spring time! The camel color will work perfectly for you ladies that are dealing with the fall season.  The material is medium weight and would look great with tall boots and jacket.  The great thing about a-line dresses is they work on all body shapes.

Forever 21 has came a very long way from when I first started shopping with them back in 2000.  Since then I have purchased some great pieces from them, mostly dress and blazers.  I am all about mixing the highs and lows when it comes to clothing and accessories.  I prefer to spend more on purses and shoes versus actually clothing unless it's something that is timeless and classic that I will keep forever.  A beautiful purse and a hot pair of shoes are the perfect compliment to a great outfit, and no one will ever know your dress was only $17.00!

Tickled Pink

Wednesday, October 17, 2012

* Sweater - Old Navy * Skirt - Target * Belt - ASOS * Pumps - Jessica Simpson
* Purse - Goodwill *

Why am I tickled pink about this outfit? Every single item I am wearing is less than  $30 and still available online (minus the pumps).  This outfit is the perfect example that you don't need to break the bank to look good.  Old Navy, ASOS and Target all seem to be on a roll with their promotions so I am sure you guys could easily get these pieces on sale.

You guys already know I love skirts, and anything that fits these curves to perfection puts a smile on my face.  Can you ever really go wrong when you wear pink and red together?  I just love simple classic statement outfits.

So how do guys think my new photographer is doing?  Yay or Nay? I know you really miss my balcony pics right, lol.

Weekend Wear: Black + White

Saturday, October 13, 2012

* Jacket - Old Navy * Tank - Target * Maxi skirt - Old Navy * Sandals - DV by Dolce Vita *
* Purse - H&M *

So today's outfit is pretty simple and comfy just something easy that allows me to run around and enjoy the sunshine and breeze.

We are finally starting to get cooler temps here in Miami, nothing drastic high 70s low 80s.  As you can see from my first picture we don't get any color change on our foliage down here, which I miss.  Fall is probably my favorite season, the hint of crispness in the air, being able to layer your outfits and preparing for the holidays.  Hopefully we will get a few cool days so I can really enjoy my favorite season.

What do you guys like best about the fall season?

Sheer Perfection

Thursday, October 11, 2012

* Blazer - Forever 21 * Blouse - Target * Skirt - Old Navy *

* Purse - Muleberry for Target * Bracelets - Gifted * Shoes - Jessica Simpson *

I love sheer blouses, they are so girly and feminine but they absolutely are not appropriate for the office.  Of course I am not going to let that stop me! I picked up this really cute ditsy bow blouse from Target in the early part of the summer for an event I was going to.  I figured I could just throw a blazer over it for work when the time came and it wouldn't be so bad since it was black.  I discovered yesterday you could still see right through it and wearing a long tank top wasn't an option.  I cut off the bottom of one of my black tank tops so it just skimmed my skirts waist band, no tucking in necessary.  There is nothing worse then wearing a fitted skirt and looking like you have diaper booty because your shirt underneath keeps bunching up, y'all know what I am talking about, lol.

And yes my long luscious locks are back, I made it exactly one week.

Updo

Tuesday, October 9, 2012

* Blazer - Marshalls * Tank - Love Culture * Ankle Trousers - Old Navy * Wedges - Nine West * .

So after watching a few YouTube videos I decided that as simple as a twist out may seem that trial and error style would have to be reserved for weekends.  Instead I searched Instragram for pics of hairstyles that I could easily recreate.  I came across this bun hairstyle a few times and figured it was simple enough and wouldn't require too much effort.  Let me tell you while this style was cute, my ponytails were toooooooo tight and I couldn't wait to take this sucker down when I got home! Lol.  The next day was better but I still couldn't take it.  I have never been tender-headed a day in my life but since becoming natural I can't stand having my hair pulled too tight.

I actually kind of missed my puff but I thought this hairstyle was really cute and I actually received a lot of compliments at work.

Weekend Wear: Old Navy Rockstar Jeans

Saturday, October 6, 2012

* Tank - Target * Jeans - Old Navy * Wedges - Target * Purse - TJ Maxx *

If I had a uniform this would most definitely be it.  I am such a jeans and tank top girl, it really doesn't get anymore comfy than this.  The great thing about living in Miami is I can throw this on whenever and head out the door.

Last week Old Navy had a sale on their Rockstar Jeggings/Jeans, they claim to have more stretch so they fit everyone.  I bought two pairs of these prior to the Rockstar being re-innovated.  I love that they come in a variety of colors but the sizing and lengths are way off.  I mean way off! I had to purchase my jeans two sizes up and one length longer.  Of course having to do that causes major gapping at the waist.  I always have to wear a belt with these jeans.  So while they are super cute and come in a variety colors keep that in mind if you plan to purchase them.

Anyone take advantage of the Old Navy Rockstar Jeans sale?
