Closet Clean-out: Giveaway 1

Wednesday, November 23, 2011

It's Black Friday! Aren't you excited or maybe you’re like me and you’re over the entire thing.  I myself am waiting on Cyber Monday, shopping from the comfort of my cubicle! Since everyone one is out spending dollar, dollar bills, I figured I would help the cause and give away these fabulous pair of pumps I bought from ALDO's two years ago on Black Friday.  This was actually my first and last pair of ALDO shoes; they don't work for my feet.  As much as I loved these shoes (worn twice) they hurt my feet.

Sooooooo they can be yours if you leave a comment below telling me how you would style these pretty purple pumps.

ALDO Frigiul - Size 9
Beautiful, suede mary jane style pump with hidden platform and 4 inch heel.  Shoe box included.

Good Luck ladies!

I love these shoes *sigh* but they are too tight for my feet.  So the first person to answer this question correctly ----> What is my grandmothers first and middle name, can have them!  I will say the answer to this question is in the 2010 archives.

Good Luck!

Curvy and Confident!

* Dress - Oldnavy * Booties - DSW * Clutch - LAMB *

You guys ever wear something that makes you say "daaaaammmmmmn" when you look at yourself in the mirror? A piece of clothing that makes you feels so good about yourself you don't want to take it off? Well, this Oldnavy Midi Sweater dress does all that and more!  This dress was floating around the blogger world and I knew I needed it once I saw Ms. Shakiyla, from I Wanna Be Fierce, shut it down!

This dress was perfect for dinner and drinks on South Beach.  I was kind of feeling myself the entire night, definitely curvy and confident.

P.S. Sorry for the parking garage pics but I was rushing =/

Out and About: Shecky's Girls Night Out Miami

Sunday, November 20, 2011

The venue was held at The Moore Building in the Miami Design District, a beautiful 4-story venue.

 The ladies and I, Ashley (A Sassy Woman), India (@ifreeSC) and Me!
Isn't Ashley's clutch fab, and I loved India's earrings and top, cute!

That jacket had to go, with all the lights and people it was so hot in there.

 Beautiful handmade bracelets, kinda pricey but the quality was very nice.

 Who rocks, their curves, we do! Another great item.  This vendor also had natural hair tee's.

 A few of my goodies that I will actually use from my goodie bag, plus the earrings I purchased from www.nicky-bs.com

Ms Nicky had great pieces, but dang if she wasn't selling out of everything, which was great! Between me and the girls we bought 6 pairs of earrings from her.  Her pieces were reasonably priced and unique compared to the other vendors.  Her customer service was amazing, I was happy to support her business, make sure you check her out!

This lil lady had nothing to do with Shecky's but we passed the Christian Louboutin store walking to the venue and this beautiful shoe caught my eye!

All in all I had a great times with the ladies, I expected more based on the website info and reviews I read.  The venue was big but it kinda sucked that we had to either walk up the stairs, (heels, alcohol and stairs are not a good combo) or wait for the elevator.  I was expecting to see all things beauty, makeup, hair, perfumes, etc.  The event mostly contained accessory vendors and a few clothing vendors sprinkled in, selling mostly swimsuits and low quality overpriced clothes.  I was happy we could sip on lots of alcohol samples, but you had to wait in super long lines for the actual mix drinks.  I was able to meet some new people and hand out my blog business cards! Yaay for me being engaging and social, a big thing for me since I am sooooo introverted.

Do you Pin?

* Silk blouse - Thrifted * Jeans - Levis Curve ID * Pumps - Bakers * Bracelets - H&M * Ring - Forever 21 *

It's Friday, its Friday, its Friday! Next week is a short work week and I am looking forward to preparing my first vegetarian Thanksgiving!  I have officially been a vegetarian six months, I am so proud of myself.  I didn't think I would be able to make it a week without eating meat, but I set my mind to it and did it. Now I just need to leave that dang coffee alone!

Today's outfit is brought to you courtesy of Pinterest, do you pin? If not, you should and make sure you follow me. I know you’re probably like other social media website, blah, blah, blah, lol.  I am resistant to trying new things myself; I like to give these new sites time to marinate before I jump on board.  Pinterest is a cool way to build virtual vision boards.  There are tons of pictures that you can choose from to pin to your boards for example style, fashion, shoes, recipes, DIY...etc.  Each picture links back to the actual web page, if the pin is added properly.

I pinned this look a couple weeks ago under My Style:

 Photo courteous of Pinterest

I think I did a pretty good job replicating this look, it's simple and cute.  Plus I had everything in my closet! Perfect for casual Friday.

* Dress - H&M * Pumps - Jessica Simpson * Earrings & Bracelets - Forever 21 *

Okay so I have been SUPER excited to wear this dress I bought while I was in Orlando a couple of weeks ago.  I am sure if you have been reading my blog for awhile you know I LOVE stripes!  However, this dress was a little bit too colorful for me, but I was coerced into buying it anyway.  I am trying to incorporate more color into my closet so this piece was perfect even if I was iffy about how it would really look once I decided to wear it.

Since we are having summer time temps this week today was the perfect day to bring this baby out! The material is very light, and the dress isn’t lined.  I almost wore my safe shoes, my Jessica Simpson platform sling backs, just my luck they were in my car, lol.  So I grabbed my sparkly Jessica Simpson d’orsay platform pumps and they matched perfectly.  I wish all of my outfits came together this easily!

Okay, now for the good stuff! I have cleaned out my closet and I have some goodies to give away.  This is what I am thinking.  I will list the items here randomly to keep it fair and the first person to respond to answer my question in the comments section would receive the item.  You must be a follower via Google Friend Connect or email subscription (and yes I will check). This will be open to US followers only.  Lastly, you must email me a picture of you wearing the item you won! Okay, I think this will be fun, you guys let me know.  If there is no interest then everything will be donated to Goodwill.

Marvelous Monday!

* Dress - H&M * Sandals - MRKT via DSW * Necklace - Dots * Bracelets - Forever21 *

First I want to say thank you for all the Veteran Day love you guys showed me, I really appreciate it.  I don't have some great story about my decision to join the Navy.  I did it to get away from everyone and gain some independence, and boy did I ever.

I am so glad to get my morning light back! I hate taking pics after work, for me it's just better to take them when I am "fresh" first thing in the morning and get it out of the way!  I had a great weekend...I ate too much, slept too much and spent too much money, lol.  However I am well rested and woke up in a great mood this morning!

So this dress is a purchase from my last year's NYC trip, yea that long ago.  I had it in my closet for awhile but it needed to be altered...story of my life.  Any-who, I love the print, the front pleating and it has pockets! The lining inside was way too tight so I cut it along the side seam had my seamstress close up the front to make it work appropriate. It's supposed to be 82 degrees today, but I have my cropped cardigan just in case the temperature dips. I love Miami winters, the weather is perfect.

I have also been cleaning out my closet, I usually give everything to Goodwill, but this time I plan to give some things to you guys as a way to say thank you.  I will post details this Wednesday on the Curves and Confidence Closet Clear-out!
I hope everyone has a great Monday!

Sheer Perfection

Outfit details: Tunic/Thrifted ~ Tank/Love Culture ~ Jeans/Levis Curve ID ~ Sandals/Guess

My white jeans are still getting lots of miles! It is a beautiful fall day in Miami and since today is my Friday I figured I would throw them on.  I am generally not a tunic girl but I found this tunic at Goodwill for less than $6.00.  I always thought that anything they tied under the bust would look unflattering but, I am loving the casual chic feel of this top.

Tomorrow is Veterans Day and I told you guys in this post I am a Navy Veteran.  I served from 1999-2003 and those were some of the best years of my life!  I made so many lifelong friends and learned so many life lessons.  I was sent to Italy at the age of 18 and had to adjust to being a long way from home really fast.  Being introverted I am really resistant to opening up to people I don’t know, but I was welcomed with open arms. Living and working with the same people everyday it’s hard not to become family, you really have to learn to trust these people with your lives! All in all it was a great experience; I traveled to some great places and met some great people.  Some days I really do miss it.

Hope everyone enjoys their long weekend!

Lucky Dior Pretty Party

Monday, November 7, 2011

I had the opportunity to attend not one but two events last week! I have become a lot more social since I started my blog and since meeting my blogging buddy Ashley from A Sassy Woman.  We have common interest and she is such a fun bubbly person to be around, she makes me laugh the entire time we are together.  We have a lot of great things planned before the end of year so makes sure you guys are following us on Twitter @curveebeauty and @sassywoman25.
So on to the good stuff! Brittany from Clumps of Mascara hosted the LucyDior Pretty Party this past Friday at the Aventura Bloomingdale's.  My blogger buddy and I were both in attendance and had a great time, learning about the Top 10 Dior Essential Makeup products.  I am no makeup maven but I really loved the all of the Dior products we had the opportunity to sample.  My faves were the L'or De Vie eye cream, it felt so silky, with continued use it is suppose to reduce dark circles and puffiness. I also loved the Diorshow Maximizer, it's a lash primer you put on before you apply your mascara.  The Diorshow  Maximizer plumps, and lengthens lashes with an ultra-light and quick-drying formula.  When I first applied the lash primer, I didn't see a difference, however when I applied the  Diorshow Unlimited Curving mascara my lashes went from okay to OKAY, lol.  All in all I had a great time and I actually picked up a few tips!

Now for the pictures, all pictures have been provided by Brittany from Clumps of Mascara
