Food, Friends and Fellowship

Monday, October 31, 2011

I had a fantastic weekend! Ashley invited me to a ladies brunch this past Sunday at Elle's in Miramar, FL.  I don't have many friends in Miami so I was excited to make some new acquaintances.  I was also super hyped to meet Kerrisa from A Diva's Moms Journey, she came down form West Palm Beach to attend the brunch.  I enjoyed meeting Kerrisa, she is such a well spoken beautiful woman.  Hopefully Ashley and I can make a trip to WPB to do some thrifting with her, she is a thrift star!

All in all we had a great time and plan do meet-ups once a month Ashley did a great job of making everyone feel welcome and even had ice breaker games for us to play and prizes for the winners.  The service and food at Elle's was amazing, can't wait to eat there again. Want to view more pics from the brunch, "like" A Sassy Womans Facebook, and check out her online album.

Annoyed that my shoes are always big in the back! Having wide feet sucks sometimes.

Law and Order

* Ring - Forever 21 *

I know you guys are wondering why this post is called Law and Order...well I had a court hearing today and I wanted to be a little dressy.  However, upon my arrival I noticed that no one really dresses up for court anymore...even the judge was casual under her robe (I saw her outfit before she put her robe on).  Well I have never been one to to do what others do soooooo I was over dressed, lol.  Plus the hearing was with my ex-husband and of course I needed to show him that I am still fine and fancy without him.

As soon as I saw this top on NY&Co. I knew it would be mines!  However, I am barginista and I was not feeling the price at all so I decided to wait until it went on sale, or wait until I had a coupon.  To my surprise I was able to pick it up at the NY&Co. outlet for 50% off this weekend, score! Good deals make me happy, lol.  I can wait to wear this top again maybe with some cropped pants next time.

Oh and the judgement went in my favor, such a blessing and weight lifted off of me.

Feelin' Fancy

 * Dress - Mandee * Shoes - Forever 21 * Bracelets - HM * Necklace - Goodwill *

I almost didn't get to post this dress, I couldn't find my battery charger for my camera anywhere.  Of course it was sitting in my suitcase from my NC trip, right where I left it, lol.

I purchased this dress 6 years ago for my 25th birthday...and I feel so fancy every time I wear it!  It reminds me of the big puffy Easter dresses my mom would buy me when I was younger. I just wanna twirl around, and around and around...kinda like Baby at the end of Dirty Dancing, ha!  I love wearing it but I hate ironing it, which means it usually only sees the light of day twice a year.  My striped shoes were a perfect compliment, I should have gotten them in in khaki as well.

I only have one issue with this dress every time I step outside the smallest breeze blows up the skirt!

Weekend Wear: Jumpsuit

Sunday, October 23, 2011

* Jumpsuit - Forever 21 * Denim jacket - Oldnavy * Belt - TJ Maxx * Wedges - Target *
* Watch - Fossils * Bracelets - Gifted *

Finally a jumpsuit!  This thing makes me feel like I am wearing my PJs, soooo comfy.  I actually bought this at the beginning of the year but it has been sitting in my closet for awhile.  I was afraid to wear it...

I try to step outside of my comfort zone every once in awhile.  I typically like simple basic colors and patterns.  Me buying this jumpsuit was a stretch, I didn't think I could pull off wearing this pattern.  I am my own worse critic sometimes, and I was completely wrong.  I look great and I felt great wearing it today. It is a little long but I like that, I think it elongates my body and makes me looks super tall.  Plus, it has pockets!!!! I added a leather belt and my denim jacket...that's it.  Simple and casual look for the weekend.

From the Mail Bag: Hair Questions Answered

Saturday, October 15, 2011

I decided to do something a little different and I recorded a video answering the questions that Ms. Tia, asked me about my lace front wig and how I style it.

video

(I hope I wasn't too confusing. I will do better next time.)
 Tia asked:

How do you curl your lace wig so that the curls stay in place and it's still shiny and natural looking.  I just got my lace wig and it was from a vendor that styles the wigs...so it was beautiful when it first came, but now that I'm trying to style it myself  it looks dull, and dry and frizzy.

1.  What do you use to wash and condition your wig every week?
2.  What products do you use when styling?
3.  How do you style it both curly and straight?
4.  How long do the curls last when you style it curly?
5.  How do you get to stay sleek all day in that Florida humidity?

Thanks for all you help!!

I hope I answered all your questions sufficiently, if I left something out let me know!

I forgot to mention in the video I am wearing: Saga Remy Human Hair Lace Wig.

My favorite: Stripes!

I really don't care to take my pictures inside however, the sun was beaming on my balcony when I got home sooooo...I prepped my little corner for a photo shoot.  I am so ready for daylight savings time to end so I can get my morning light back.

I have worn skirts three days in a row this week (I have one on today too) I decided to get rid of all my dress pants and start over.  Crazy huh? Well, I have never really cared to wear pants and since starting my blog I have come to know what works for me and what doesn't.  Now that I am equipped with the necessary information I will start from scratch and rebuild my collection of dress pants.  I am chucking all but a few that I absolutely love.  I am very guilty of buying things just because they are a good deal, but I know better now. So out with the old, in with the new!  I am going to be on the hunt for dress pants during my next few thrifting trips, keep your fingers crossed I find some good buys.

Maybe I will do a detailed review on what brands I find that work for the curvy consumer,  I love when shoppers give the good and the bad.  I sometimes find the reviews on websites to be unhelpful.  When I absolutely love something I try to give as many details as possible to you guys.

Okay, I am off to go study more Earth Science, later gators.

Tee shirt - Oldnavy
Skirt - NY&Co.
Shoes - Chinese Laundry via TJ Maxx
Bracelets - H&M & JcPenney

P.S. Ms. Tia, I will do a detailed hair post for you this weekend!

 (The other Diva in the house)

Good Morning! I know you guys are probably like where the hell have you been?! Well…no excuses, but real life kind of takes over sometimes.  Oh and it usually takes me a minute to get back in my groove after taking vacation.  I have been keeping up with my blog reading (slacking on commenting) and I have been tweeting on and off.  I have also been doing some strategic planning on ways to improve my blog and my social presence.  I have missed you guys but I will admit…my outfits over the past few weeks have been thrown together and not in a good way, lol.  So last night I actually took the time to pick out my outfit.

So today’s outfit is classic…skirt, blouse and pumps.  I have really been into blouses; I still need to find the perfect pussy bow blouse.  I found a nice Bebe one at the Goodwill but accidentally shrunk it, smh.  There is something about a blouse that is timeless and lady like, expect to see me in more of them.  I am also awaiting cooler weather so I can throw on some layers; wear my scarves, blazers and boots!  I also finally got my red skinny jeans, well I have two pairs but one is going back.

Okay party people have a great day, I need to study for my Earth Science mid-term that I am stressing over =/

P.S. Super big hello to all my new followers and a big hug to all my loyal readers out there that keep coming back, love you guys.
