Okay I am not really tipsy but I couldn't think of anything else, lol. Nothing special today, I love the colors and layers. I guess that's why fall and winter are my favorite seasons. I can pile it on, lol. It's still stupid hot here in Miami but hopefully cooler temps are right around the corner. I am longing for my sweaters and boots =(. A full day of work and school today, and I finally got my brows done, lol. I usually get them waxed once a month. I notice if I go more often then then that they are too thin. I let them almost grow all the way back because I like them full. Oh and my baby is back. I went a entire week with out my precious half-wig. I was having withdrawal after the second day, but I made it!

Today was the first day of classes for me after my summer break. I started the Bachelors program for Management and Supervision at my school. I figured a sexy and sophisticated outfit was in order. I have on one of my favorite skirts...a knit pencil skirt. Since I have wide hips and big ole' booty, I prefer something with generous stretch. I can get the look I am going for without having to feel like I am in a straight jacket all day, lol.

I wore this to go see Inception last night with my Bestie, great movie by the way. Like I said before I stay away from trends but the denim shirt is something that can be classic. I think it can even be substituted for a denim jacket during the summer when its scorching. I got my denim shirt on Ebay for $8! I have had it for a while but I wasn't really sure how to wear it. I played around with it last night and came up with this. I normally wouldn't wear denim on denim but if you wear a dark wash on the bottom and and something light on the top you should be good.

Just about everyone has a love/hate relationship with their body. I guess as women we tend to feel that we have to be perfect according to a certain "standard". Its all B.S., everyone is different and beautiful in their own way. I can remember having the "fat" converstion with my grandma while I was in high school. Every night I would take out my clothes for school and I would try on my outfit and show my Grandma. One night I decided to ask her a question I had been tossing around in my head. "Grandma do you think I'm fat?" her response "girl please your are not fat, your thick", lmao. That was the first time I had ever been called thick. I always felt like I huge compared to everyone else...mind you I was the same height I am now, 5'5" and around 145lbs. Small waist, big booty and great legs. Here's a pic for reference...this was my 12th grade homecoming pic:
As you can see my perception was waaaay off, I was a tiny thing. Instead of embracing who I was I focused more on trying to be what I "thought" was the standard. It didn't help that I grew up in a household that was limited when it came to affection and praise. For the longest time I thought I was ugly. No one should ever feel like they don't want to look at themselves in the mirror, takes pictures or even smile. It's important that we show our young girls...daughters, sisters, cousins that it's okay to be who you are and to love yourself before you attempt to love anyone else. I didn't learn to truly love me until I was an adult...as a young women I relied too much on what others thought of me. I was always craving that attention that I didn't get as a child. In the end only you can make you happy. You can't depend on others for your happiness, you will always end up disappointed. So here I am 12 years later, a little thicker, but still beautiful none the less. I am happy, healthy and still a work in progress. So ladies let's be (and stay) confident, inspire others when we can, love ourselves, and continue to work towards being better women.

I couldn't think of a name for today's post, smh, but the show must go on... Well before I get into the details of today's outfit, let me just say I have become addicted to thrifting. I have found soooo much great stuff in the last month. I need to dedicate a post to all my thrifted finds. The Goodwill has become my shopping spot, we have so many different locations here in South Florida I just hit a new spot every weekend. My goal is to see how much I can get for $50 or less. So this skirt was picked up at the Goodwill in Pembroke Park, FL. Of the four Goodwill retail stores I have been to this is my favorite, its huge! This skirt immediately stood out to me when I saw it, I may shorten it a teeny bit so it looks more proportioned on me.

So today is Friday the 13th, we were discussing this at work yesterday and some people seemed really freaked out about this. But why? So here is a little history on Friday the 13th...
The real spooky history of Friday the 13th
August 13th, 2010
You locked your keys in your car. Your heel broke. Your computer greeted you with the blue screen of death. And that was only before 11 a.m.!
Verdict: The world is definitely against you.
Paranoia, we can't escape you tonight, so come on in. The front door's wide open.
Haven't checked the date yet today? It's Friday the 13th. And if a little chill just went down your spine, you're not alone.
But why does the 13th day of the month on the final day of the work week get us in such a tizzy anyway?
Su-per-sti-tion. We can't help ourselves. Much like a black cat crossing our paths, we believe this combination is simply bad luck.
As it turns out, no one has a good answer.
Donald Dossey, founder of the Stress Management Center and Phobia Institute, told National Geographic that the Friday the 13th freakout is rooted in ancient beliefs that both the number 13 and Friday were separately unlucky, colliding in a maelstrom of misfortune.
Reality really lost the battle with Norse mythology on the Friday the 13th notions, though. According to word on the street, the gods were kicking back, sipping the bubbly. Suddenly, a 13th, uninvited guest appeared, and had the most-loved god of joy and gladness knocked off. Then the whole world went pitch black.
What a killjoy.
While the Scandinavian story seems a legit source of lore, it doesn't stop there. Cavemen only had their 10 fingers and two feet to use for counting purposes. Ten plus two equals 12, and anything above 12? The stuff nightmares were made of.
Time blames Thomas Lawson's book about crashing the stock market, Friday the Thirteenth, for really etching the unlucky day in people's brains.
And of course, Jesus died on Friday amongst 13 of his buddies. Which was nothing less than a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.
But those theories are merely the tip of the shattered mirror shard. We'll never really know the truth.
Since we can't pinpoint the locus of the legend, there's only one thing left to do.
Hide. Until Saturday. It's really not safe out there tonight.

Finally some color! I swear I need to spice of my wardrobe too much black!...I'm slowly working on it. I love these colors...I knew I had to have this tank when I saw how vibrant the yellow was.
I also fell in love with the tiny ruffles, it gave it a more dressy flair then just a plain tank top, I also purchased it in hot pink.
Okay my posting has been lacking. I been feeling discourage about posting my pics. I swear I over analyze every single detail and instead of looking for the positive I immediately point out the negative. Of course my perception is always way off and I look fine but its just something about knowing anyone can come a critique you that can be scary. It takes courage to put yourself out there. I have always consider myself to be a confident chick but blogging is a whole new world, lol. But I know I got this!

Blazers and jeans seem to be the hot trend right now. I usually don't rock with trends because they never last. I prefer more timeless and classic looks...but this is something I can get down with. My blazer collection was basically slim to none. I wanted something nice but really didn't want to go out and spend a lot of cash. So I hit up my local Goodwill Superstore and came up quite nicely. I purchased five blazers in the past three weeks all for under $50! This blazer cost me $5; I love the princess seams, the gathering at the shoulders and the top stitch detail. It was a great find!

I always pick out my outfits the night before work and last night was no different. So I grabbed these pants because I love the way they "fit". Well I get to work today feeling good about myself and my co-work says to me "don't you think those pants are too tight for work" LMAO...I looked at myself and said "no they aren't". Well needless to say we went back and forth for a couple minutes. I didn't get offended or anything because we are really cool. Plus, I always consider myself to be polished and appropriate for the office environment. So I say to my co-worker "I can't help it if I have a booty and hips, I'm just working with what I got! So for the rest of the day I felt self-conscious about the way I was dressed. According to him he likes to see women dressed more conservatively *rolling eyes*. You would have thought I came to work dressed in a Herve Leger bandage dress a la Kim Kardashian. Anyway, long story short...I told myself I wouldn't wear these again but changed my mind quickly. I am thick and curvy...I look good and I love it. Anyone that doesn't like it can suck a fat one! =)
